Joshua Guffey / Chief Technology Officer

Joshua Guffey has a passion for technology, ingenuity, and continual optimization of processes and methods. Joshua served OpenJar’s technology needs for four years as an independent contractor until June of 2016, when OpenJar brought Joshua onto the team full time as our Chief Technology Officer. Joshua works closely with all departments to provide solutions to their various tech-based needs.

Since 2012 Joshua has worked directly with OpenJar to capture the vision our organization has and to develop our technology to support our growing and ever-changing business needs. He has made it his goal to empower OpenJar to go farther, do more, and surpass the performance that can be offered by any other.

Joshua has a background in computer programming, web development, application development, project management, search engine marketing, and other online marketing disciplines.

Central to Joshua’s character is a belief and commitment to constant personal and professional improvement, and continual improvement in those assets for which he is held responsible.

Outside of work, Joshua is a committed and loving father with a strong belief in the power of positive reinforcement. He enjoys dance, rollerblading, the outdoors, a wide variety of music from classical to classic rock, camping, and physical exercises such as weight training and hiking. He’s also a sucker for intriguing movies and cheesecake.

Fun Facts: In grade school, Joshua was using spreadsheets, databases, and programming languages. He took a different direction for many years as a massage therapist before returning to technology as his outlet for professional growth.

Favorite quote: Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back — concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” -Goethe
